Easy exit and entry from the house.  A mudroom or laundry room is perferrable.

A door suitable for a pet door for dogs or cats. A space for a cat-climbing tree.

Neighborhood dog walking trails, sidewalks and safety. Dog parks and recreation venues.

Nearby pet services such as grooming, veterinary services, boarding, and pet supplies.

Easy to maintain interior flooring. For cats, windows for outdoor viewing.  A laundry room dog bathing feature or a walk-in shower in the home.
